The first delivered Airbus is this serial number 8 of the A330/340 series, and was delivered to Lufthansa on January 29th 1993. It was given
the city name Nürnberg, the first of seven A340-211s for Lufthansa. Entry into service of this aircraft was on March 1st 1993 between Frankfurt
(FRA) and Athens (ATH). After over five years in service, a big change came on March 18th 1998 - Nürnberg got the Star Alliance colour
scheme - and the aircraft became very popular by the photographer community. Now follow almost five new year of service by Lufthansa, but on
January 13th 2003 it had its last flight for Lufthansa. The same day it was shipped to Hamburg (HAM) for repaint into South African Airways
(SAA) colours. SAA will lease this aircraft until all the new A340-300E/A340-600 are delivered. As of today (mid April 2003) it's still stored at
 HAM.
