After a short visit to the airside of the Airport Hotel on 14 May 2005, I'm a bit disappointed with the spotter facilities here. After 9/11/01 two high fences have been installed, and therefore the photo opportunities are very limited - short finals for aircraft landing on runway 23R and aircraft taking off from runway 05L. The last scenario was the case on my visit, and below you will find two belly photos.

British Airways Citiexpress Avro RJ100 G-BZAT abeam the Airport Hotel

Air France Airbus A319-111 F-GRHY heading for Paris/CDG.

These two photos illustrate very good the fortress feeling you get, and photographing aircraft taxying on Juliet is almost impossible due to the fences and bushes on the other side of the fences.

But for families with children the Airport Hotel can be said to be a perfect spot.

The Airport Hotel is situated at the very end of runway 23R, seen here from spot E - Moss Lane.
