Philippines A330-301 F-OHZP getting underway as PR433 to Cebu (a five-times weekly afternoon flight) while a Fair CRJ comes in from Osaka-Itami in the background.

This A300B4-203F registered N474AS had nothing more than small stickers to identify its current operator Air Hong Kong. It was brought from the cargo area on the right hand side of the Terminal 1 observation deck to a mixed parking/tech zone on the far left.

Turning up totally unexpected was JALways’ 747-246B “Reso’cha” JA8150! It came in late operating Japan Asia Airways flight EG278 from Taipei. Seen here on late afternoon final approach to runway 31L.

The strong presence of Korean Air more than justifies inclusion of another model routinely flown on the Seoul-Narita route. Normally KE701 is an A330-300 on Sundays and a 747-300 only on Saturdays, but that weekend things HL7469 was standing in.

CX509 is a daily Cathay Pacific B777-300 flight to Hong Kong.

Seeing China Northern’s A300-622R B-2329 operate a China Southern flight to Dalian was more than justification enough to try an “emergency shot” as the merger of the two will soon make this livery history.

A close look at the colourful tail of JAL’s green “Reso’cha” JA8184, a 747-346SR, after pushback bound for Saipan on the Mariana Islands as JO947.

Taking approach pictures of it operating for Japan Asia Airways from Taipei as EG278 is not so easy with the most important details being hidden behind the wing for most of the time.

Air China has a daily afternoon 777-200-service to Beijing which is identified by the flight number CA926. B-2060 takes care of this one.

Air India’s 747-337M to Delhi is routed via Bangkok on Wednesdays and Saturdays with a slightly different flight numbers. The day this photo is taken VT-EPW “Shivaji” flight AI301 is about to start on a non-stop flight to Delhi.

During my visit, China Southern 777-21Bs were a surprisingly rare sight at Narita with most of the flights covered by smaller aircraft models ranging from MD-82s to A300s. Unfortunately, I had positioned myself on the Terminal 2 observation deck on the wrong side of the rapid transit tracks when the only one I got to see came in from Guangzhou as CZ385.
